On Tuesday, May 22, 2012, thirteen members of the Whidbey Island Chapter paid a three day visit to the North Island area. Arriving at the Comox Valley Rhododendron Garden, our guests were met by members of the executive and their billet hosts.
A ‘Meet & Greet’ barbeque was held at the beautiful garden of Becci and Keith Russell.
On Wednesday morning, guests and hosts toured Bryan Zimmermann’s ‘Woodland Gardens’ on Coleman Road. Then everyone enjoyed a coffee break and quick tour at Diana & John Scott’s garden before heading to Paul & Lynn Wurz ‘Hidden Acres’ garden nursery in Campbell River, where all were treated to a delicious lunch provided by the NIRS.
After a tour of the Hidden Acres garden, the group stopped at the Black Creek gardens of Barb & Brian Staton and Lois & Jim Clyde on their way back to Comox for a potluck dinner hosted by Adela & Roberts Smith.
The tour wrapped up on Thursday, May 24th with a parting tour at the gardens of Antje & Peter Guertler and Robert Argall’s garden.
Special thanks to Diana Scott, Lois Clyde, Peter Guertler and Dave Godfrey for sharing their photos.
