On Thursday, May 3rd, our spring bus tour organized by Sue Grant and Garth Wedemire saw 46 members travel to the Cowichan area to visit gardens arranged by NIRS associate members Al and Liz Murray. There were five spectacular gardens, along with a shopping stop at Dinter’s Nursery in Duncan.

The bus departed from Driftwood Mall at 7 am sharp and arrived in Duncan about 2 hours later. We were met by Vicky Travers (Al and Liz’s daughter) who was our knowledgeable tour guide for the day.

The first stop was at ‘Echoes of Nature Farm and Garden‘, owned by Verna Buhler and George Morgan. Then it was on to Dinter’s Nursery south of Duncan for an hour’s shopping before our lunch stop and tour at Liz and Al Murray’s ‘Misty View Garden‘ in Cobble Hill.

After lunch, we drove to Janice & Laurie Mosely’s ‘Marble Falls Farm‘.  Next, it was on to the gardens of the stately ‘Maple Bay Manor‘, owned and operated by Lynn Clark and Allen Brown.

Our final stop for the day was at Louise Neveu and Don Loewen’s ‘Camelot Ridge‘ in Maple Bay. All owners and tour guide Vicky were presented with a thank you card and a small gift of appreciation from the NIRS members attending.
