On September 21, 22 and 23, 2012, members of the Nanaimo Rhododendron Society hosted the ARS Western Regional Conference. Activities included a plant sale, silent auction, raffles and a photo contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There were Saturday morning forums with a variety of guest speakers and Saturday afternoon bus tours to private gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The keynote speaker for the Friday night banquet, Garth Wedemire, was presented with a special District 1 `Award of Exceptional Contribution` for his many contributions to the District over the past three decades. The award was presented on behalf of all District One members by District Director Mary J.
